As a state, the CDC stated that the level of COVID transmission in New York is “high”. If there are 50 cases per 100,000 people within 7 days, or the positive rate is higher than 5%, the CDC considers the infection rate to be "high" or "significant."

The CDC believes that people should wear masks indoors in areas where the CDC considers the spread of COVID to be “high” or “large”.

When Hudson Valley first started monitoring CDC's COVID data tracker, only 20 counties had “high” COVID transmission. By mid-September, every county in the state had "high" COVID transmission.

Almost every county in New York State is now considered to have "high" COVID transmission. The following are the New York counties that the CDC considers "high" or COVID infection rates:

Westchester County is the only county in New York State that has no "high" COVID transmission. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believes that West Chester has "substantial" COVID transmission.

Governor Kathy Hochul recently released her #VaxtoSchool campaign, and she announced that pop-up COVID-19 vaccination spots will be opened in areas where zip code data shows vaccination rates are below the statewide average.

The first two pop-up sites are located in the 11102 and 10467 postal codes.

Before leaving office, Governor Andrew Cuomo (Andrew Cuomo) identified 117 postal codes in which the COVID spread at an alarming rate and the vaccination rate was lower than the statewide average.

Most postal codes are in New York City. 71 zip codes or 61% are located in New York City, mainly in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.

Related areas of Long Island include Riverhead, Wyandanch, Elmont, and Calverton.
